We are looking for an experienced Systems Engineer for one of the Systems Engineering teams within the Combat Air business area, where the focus is on developing and delivering our Electronic Warfare (EW) capability to the Eurofighter Typhoon and contributing to the UK’s future fighter development programme.
You will be responsible for managing the system requirements, interface specifications, traceability and monitoring compliance.
You will operate within the Systems Engineering lifecycle and in accordance company processes and contractual requirements.
You will work closely with the Lead and Chief Engineers to maintain working relationships between engineering functions, across sites and businesses.
You will facilitate and support technical workshops on specific areas of functionality as required.
This role requires travel to other Leonardo sites in the UK and to other customer sites for interactions with the customer and the rest of industry.
The successful candidate will experience working on a project which is providing next generation capability to in-service aircraft (Eurofighter Typhoon) and will pave the way for the future fighter programme.

Maintain the system requirements specification in DOORS, including maintaining traceability to higher and lower-level specifications.
Maintain the system ICDs and work with the customer to develop and maintain higher-level ICDs.
Work alongside internal / external stakeholders to understand user needs and requirements with which to define and influence system requirements and designs, ensuring suitable routes to compliance and acceptance.
Provide guidance to other engineering functions on the derivation, apportionment and compliance of systems requirements.
Develop and deliver engineering specifications, reports and presentations for to customers and industry partners.
Travel within the UK and potentially abroad to meet with our customers and industry partners.
Skills, Qualifications & Knowledge Required
You really must have:
Proven experience in the defence electronics sector, preferably airborne systems and an understanding of the deployment of airborne military platforms, systems and operation within the enterprise environment.
Experience of working across the full engineering lifecycle.
Understanding of key principles associated with RF signal propagation and processing, Surface to Air Missile Systems (SAMs) & Radar Threats
Self-motivated with a strong aptitude for problem-solving and decision-making within projects involving design complexity and uncertainty.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience of delivery to a variety of internal and external stakeholders of varying seniorities.
High proficiency in influencing and leading requirements and design decisions, both internally and within a customer environment.
Undergraduate Engineering degree or related scientific discipline.It would be nice if you:
