Shifts:Predominantly Days with flexibility to do shifts if required
Hours per week:Average 46 hours per week – Flexibility to work nights and weekends
Stock:Class 387 Electrostars – London Overground Stock
Industries considered:Rail/Rolling Stock preferred, RAF, REME, Army, Navy, Marine, Avionics, Rolling Stock, Commercial/Industrial Electrics, Defence, Plant Engineering, SPM, HVAC, and Process Engineering

Our client is a global leader in Rolling Stock vehicle manufacturing, service and maintenance.
Before a Train enters on to the rail network, the train systems and equipment which are critical to the safety of the passengers and/or crew, must be correctly configured and tested to ensure that the vehicle is fit for operation.
This position will involve maintaining Rolling Stock vehicles to meet the customer standards suitable for these vehicles to go out into passenger service. This could involve working on all systems, both mechanical and electrical, which could be doors, HVAC, driver controls, lighting, PIS (passenger information systems), signalling etc. You will be expected to complete Electrical and Mechanical re-fits from written work instruction, including traction motors, starter motors and underframe items on Rolling Stock. You will also be expected to remove and replace the entire interior and replace all electrical items. You’ll be expected to test and inspect all replaced components with a fluke meter, so you must be competent in this area.
This could also include the following:
*Checking water and oil levels
*Door System Checks
*Using a laptop to run Diagnostic Checks
*Removing and re-wiring HVAC systems
*Working from detailed schematic drawings
*Rip out and replace lighting
*Test Continuity using Fluke / Multi-Meter
*Exhaust modification (to reduce emissions)
*Carry out basic Heating & Ventilation modifications
*Repairing or installing Wi-Fi systems
*Changing relay boxes
*Complete and sign written work documentation
*Work on 3 phase systems
Previous Rolling Stock/Rail experience is preferred but not essential. Ideal industry’s considered:
Special Purpose Machinery
Defence -Submarines / Ships / Aircraft
EX Forces Mechanical Engineer – Routine Maintenance on Aircraft/ helicopters/ HGV (REME, RAF, Navy)
A formal engineering qualification is a must;
NVQ Level 3 / City and Guilds Level 3
