About the role
We’re looking for a Project Manager to join us at HMNB Devonport.
Energy & Marine is a business unit within the Marine & Technology Division of Babcock International Group. E&M is a leading design consultancy providing naval architecture, marine, system engineering, electrical engineering design and project support services to the offshore, marine and defence markets worldwide. Within this business unit, Naval Engineering have vast experience in engineering, construction, concept design and through life support for a wide range of front line naval and auxiliary support vessels.
This is a permanent role within E&M. You will manage projects in their control to Time, Quality and Cost
This role is to operate in support of the lead Project Manager covering specific project functions, deputising for the lead Project Manager or sometimes managing non-complex projects under supervision. You will be expected to apply all the central project management competencies to the required level. You will have delegated accountability for project financial, commercial and resource decision making.
To manage or part manage tasks as required and contribute to the whole lifecycle from concept through to in-service support.
Major Tasks & Activities
Deliver key project management functions in support of the overall project delivery, including schedule, financial and risk functions.
Support the development of accurate and up-to-date financial and schedule estimates to ensure the project is accurately planned and reported
Manage the planning, monitor and control of work packages being delivered by other internal and external resources.
Apply the Business Management System (BMS) appropriately for the project and produce and communicate project reporting data on Enterprise resource Planning (ERP) systems.
Undertake aspects of stakeholder management and communications activities are required and support development of stakeholder management plans.What do I need to do the role?
You will need ideally have a degree in engineering or project management. Or appropriate accreditation to APM standards; (Registered Project Professional or Chartered Project Professional) or an HNC with appropriate apprenticeship / experience in a relevant engineering or project discipline.
You should also have experience in the following:
Demonstrable knowledge or experience of working with common project tools: MS Project, Primavera P6 etc.
Takes appropriate decisions based on an informed judgement which may impact on others
Supports team to deliver excellent customer service
Solves more complex problems which may affect others
Maintains commitment to deliver results, against their own and teams responsibilities, even when difficulties arise
Regularly review work processes and practices to identify and implement improvements
Supports and guides others to adapt to change
Demonstrates commitment to team & shared goals by co-operating with others
Undertakes development of own skills to ensure that they can achieve role demands
