We have an urgent requirement for an experienced Highways Engineer due to a busy client who is working closely with Homes England projects and are looking for Engineers with experience in dealing with development and development-related issues to support our Senior Engineer and Associate in the management and delivery of some interesting and challenging projects. Our client is an award winning multi-disciplinary engineering practice who deliver services to clients nationally and overseas.
Essentially we are looking for someone who has knowledge or experience in all or some of these areas:
” 3-4 years’ experience in highways and drainage works in UK; ” Knowledge of storm and foul water drainage network design using MicroDrainage; ” Knowledge of and design capability for SUDS systems; ” Conversant with highway layouts (vertical and horizontal alignments); ” Competent in using AutoCAD for general civil engineering drawing production; ” Knowledge of Flood Risk Assessments would be beneficial; ” Experience of preparing calculations, drawings and reports; ” Able to successfully communicate with suppliers, clients, contractors, the public and other engineers within company ” Familiar with Health & Safety, environmental and managerial procedures; ” Able to present / represent your technical work (presentations / meetings); ” Comfortable with assigning and checking the work of technicians/administrative staff; ” Be working towards Chartership with a relevant professional body
What will this role involve?
Provide a high standard of technical support within the Highways Design Team, focused on the professional delivery of engineering design projects, including highway improvement, public realm and development related issues, working within defined budgets, to an agreed timetable and to high professional standards.
Key responsibilities are:
. Provide the engineering design management and project management input required to effectively deliver specific projects undertaken by the Team. . Provide resource planning and resource management to assist the Manager in ensuring that the required resources are available for the effective delivery of projects under their control. Build and maintain healthy relationships with internal and external business partners, customers and clients. . Supervise and actively promote the technical development of other staff within the Team, including providing appropriate technical advice. . Ensure any technical output for projects is of an acceptable standard, including adherence to HSEQ procedures. . Assist in Administration of construction contracts including execution of NEC Project Manager and Supervisor duties. . You will be dealing with highways design, drainage assessment and design, sustainable drainage and flood risk solutions within the Highways Drainage team and other disciplines.
Civil Engineering degree or HNC, or other relevant degree qualification of a similar status. Preferably a Chartered, or Incorporated Engineer or working towards chartered / incorporated status with the Institution of Civil Engineers
